Photo Galleries

If you take a few minutes to look through our photo galleries, you can get an idea of what a fun place this can be. We are off the beaten path on a beautiful and yet peaceful lake. As you can see in the photos, we have plenty to offer whether you stay for a night or much, much longer.

There are a variety of planned and unplanned events here at Scenic View. Our guests, friends and neighbors come each Thursday evening for a potluck dinner and socializing. Fires around the large fire pit occur frequently and often turn into fun gatherings of our guests and residents. We often celebrate holidays such as halloween and have many fun events and just plain good times.

Many families take advantage of our grills for gatherings of their own. We have also been the location for small weddings and wedding parties. It is not hard to find fun times here.

You won't believe the sunsets that we have on this lake. It is surprising how often they are absolutely outstanding.

The photos in this gallery show how beautiful they can be, but what is surprising is how often those great ones occur.

Lone Star Lake is a wonderful place for fishing and boating. The lake gets very light traffic and little fishing pressure.

We have kayaks and a pontoon boat for rent if you want to spend some time on the water.

Like to fish? Fishing is great from our shoreline or from either of the docks. Catfish are commonly caught as are Largemouth Bass and Sand Bass.

Each holiday season, we have an incredible display of Christmas lights all through our property. People drive for miles around to visit.

The preparation for this light show can start as early as late October. That effort definitely pays off, though. The display is striking.

The Blessing of the Boats occurs on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Our dock will be full of boats from residents on the lake as local clergy offer their blessings and prayers in the Annual Blessing of the Boats. (2020 photos have been added. They should be the first ones you see).

Many of the participants bring dishes in a potluck fashion for a nice brunch and really fun social gathering following the blessing.

We have an incredible fireworks display on the 4th of July in celebration of Independence Day.

This display can be seen all over the lake. There is a great view from the park itself and many people come on their boats for a ringside view from the water.

This is a great time to visit. You will certainly enjoy the fireworks show.

There are an amazing variety of birds that can be seen here. 118 different species of birds have been reported from our park. This includes Bald Eagles (frequently seen), Painted Buntings, White Pelicans, Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, Eastern Bluebirds, Cedar Waxwings, Common Loons, Ospreys, and so many others.

We are just minutes away from other outstanding birding locations including several excellent spots on remote areas of Lake O' the Pines.

You can get close to nature on Lone Star Lake. While it is not a remote location, our guests are often surprised at some of the wildlife that appears. In addition to the 118 species of birds that have been observed at our park, we have occasional visits from otters, and beavers. There are many species of butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies in the right season.

There are some remote areas of Lake O' the Pines just minutes away, as well as some heavily forested "river bottoms" on the other side of Lone Star Lake. These are great places for hiking and observation of the natural world here in East Texas.
