EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
We have annual events as well as one that takes place every week. Some of these take place solely on our property and others are lake-wide events.
There are so many activities that you can enjoy in our area. We have mentioned just a few below but are only touching on the possibilities.
Of course, if you just want to relax, that is one of the best inactive activities around. We have everything you need for that, too: a lake view to soothe the soul, sun to warm you, peaceful surroundings for your relaxation, and some of the most beautiful sunsets you could ever hope to see.
EVENTS
THIRSTY THURSDAY
Every Thursday night, we open our facility to all of our motel & RV Park guests, our neighbors here on the lake, everyone’s friends, and anyone else who wants to come by. If possible, we ask that everyone bring a dish and your favorite drink.
BLESSING OF THE BOATS
On the Saturday before Memorial Day, the Annual Blessing of the Boats occurs on our large dock. Residents on the lake bring their boats to enjoy a nice brunch followed by the blessing. Local clergy members offer prayers and the blessing.
CHRISTMAS LIGHT SHOW
People drive from many miles away to drive through our property each holiday season to enjoy the incredible display of Christmas lights each year. You will be amazed at the variety of displays and the vast number of Christmas all over our grounds.
HOLIDAY
BOAT PARADE
Each 4th of July boats owners on the lake (and some visitors) decorate their boats with patriotic flags & decor. They then make a large circle around the lake as they parade along. The fun celebration passes along our large dock for perfect viewing.
JULY 4TH FIREWORKS
WOW! You will not believe the unbelievable fireworks display that occurs each July 4th here at Scenic View. We’re not talking about a few skyrockets and firecrackers but rather a full-blown fireworks show that rivals those in large cities.
ACTIVITIES
RELAXING
Do you just need to get away from everything and relax. We have the greatest place for relaxing. Scenic View’s low-key atmosphere and the placid lake view is the ideal place for just taking it easy. Get a tan; read a book; visit with family or just lay back and enjoy it.
BOATING
Lone Star Lake has very light traffic and is a great boating location. Whether you want to fish or just cruise the pleasant waters, this is a great place for boating of any kind–powerboats, ski boats, canoes & kayaks. Our lake has light traffic and is very pleasant.
FISHING
Lone Star Lake receives very light fishing pressure which makes it a great place for fishing. The lake record Largemouth Bass (pictured above) was measured and weighted at our bait shop. The bass was then released back into the lake and is waiting just for you.
BIRDING
This is a surprisingly active birding area. Over 100 species have been reported at Scenic View. We are also minutes away from some of the best birding areas in East Texas. Bald Eagles are frequently seen flying past and overhead, especially in the fall.
ANTIQUING
Jefferson is one of Texas’ best antiquing areas and it makes for a great diversion. There are dozens of interesting antique shops, really nice restaurants, and even an old style paddleboat that offers evening cruises. History buffs will enjoy this historic city.
